Epic Announces iPad Game
First Epic Games was a PC developer. Then, with Gears of War 2, they seemed to become a console developer. And now? They're setting their sights on iPhones and iPads.
At Apple's keynote today, Epic Games' Mike Capps announced an upcoming title for the iPad and iPhone dubbed "Project Sword." Using the Unreal 3 Engine, Project Sword will be a medieval action-RPG that focuses on touch screen sword play.
Capps also claimed that the Unreal 3 Engine tech for the iOS will be open to all, claiming "We're putting Unreal Engine 3 technology into the hands of game developers all over the world, and we can't wait to see the apps they make next."
You can actually see the tech in action in a demo called Epic Citadel, which is available at the iTunes store store now.
But back to the game, Project Sword. It turns out it's not actually in development at Epic Games. So who is making it? Chair Entertainment - the same people who made the Xbox Live Arcade hit Shadow Complex.
