Xbox Live Price Hike in November

By Joe Dodson, 8/31/2010 5:07 AM

A one-year subscription to Xbox Live has cost $50 for the past 8 years. But on November 1, it will cost $60.

This comes to us from Major Nelson's blog, where it was revealed that Xbox Live subscriptions will increase at all levels on November 1. One month subscriptions will jump from $8 to $10, and three month subscriptions will jump from $20 to $25. Some of these changes will take effect in Canada, Mexico and the UK, but all will take effect in the U.S.

So that's the bad news. The good news is that you can renew your Xbox Live account for one year for $40 in a promotion that's happening now. I think that this adds a year onto the end of your current subscription, and if so, it's very worth it. I will verify this in the next few hours.

You can see how far you are into your current Xbox Live subscription here.

I'm pretty sure it'll just take affect when you renew after November 1st. So, apparently either renew now for $40 or pay $60 later.

God damn consoles.

You currently have
12 Month Gold

Renews to: 12 Months for $39.99
Renewal date: 5/25/2011

so on 5/25/2011 i will be automatically renewed for the cheaper rate. i have not seen the charge appear on my credit card yet, but i just placed this order a few minutes ago
