Kingdom Hearts Coming to PSP this Summer
Square-Enix today announced that Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PSP will arrive in North America sometime this summer. The game has been available in Japan since January 9.
According to the press release, this PSP version is actually a prequel to the original Kingdom Hearts for the PS2. It follows the exploits of three young adventurers eager to prove their worth, and track down one of their missing fellows. Like all Kingdom Hearts games, Birth by Sleep will combine settings and characters from both Disney and Square Enix properties. While we don't know which Disney characters will be featured, we do know that sections of the game will include the castle from Cinderella, as well as Sleeping Beauty's Enchanted Dominion.
One thing that occurs to us is the possibility that Marvel characters may someday make their way into a Kingdom Hearts game, since Disney owns Marvel Comics and all its intellectual properties. While we don't expect to see any webslinging in this PSP installment of the series, it's just a matter of time before a Kingdom Hearts game lets us take on the forces of Venom Duck as the Amazing Spider-Mouse.
