Mass Effect $5 on Steam
By Jeff Buckland, 1/1/2010 12:51 PMBioware's excellent third-person, sci-fi, RPG-having, action-packed blast of a game Mass Effect for PC is $5 again - and this time, it's on Steam, not EA's horrible online store.
If you plan on getting Mass Effect 2 on PC when it's released on the 26th and you never played the first game, now's a great time to get caught up on all things Commander Shepard. We've heard that high-level characters imported into the new game won't get to keep their levels, but they will get other perks scattered throughout the sequel, so it seems worthwhile to make your choices in the first game and import your save games into the second one. The Steam version of Mass Effect has no DRM beyond the Steam-based protection and both DLC packs are now compatible with it, so you've got no excuse anymore!
