Burglars Traced Through Online Game
By Joe Dodson, 12/30/2009 12:56 AMThe Brunswick Sentinel is reporting that a band of burglars known as the "Grinch Gang" has been undone by their careless video gaming habits. Also, that they're nasty, wasty skunks and that their hearts are full of unwashed socks.
The Grinch Gang (comprised of three teenagers) had been robbing houses since November 1, but were foiled when a friend of one of their victims noticed the victim's PSN user name in use online and notified the authorities. Detective Ron Seaman then acquired a "communications data warrant" and traced the account to a South Jersey home, which the police raided on December 4.
They found the victim's PS3, a 46 inch flat-screen TV, and enough evidence to wrap up the investigation and bring down the band of thieves. The Grinch Gang's members include Chris Gardner (18), Shaborn Smith (19) and an unnamed 17 year-old accomplice. According to at least one internet account, they're "as cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel."
