Klingons PvP Only in Star Trek Online
By Joe Dodson, 12/17/2009 9:36 PMCryptic Studios is taking a novel approach with the Klingon race in their upcoming MMORPG, Star Trek Online -- Klingons will level almost exclusively through player-versus-player combat.
According to the press release, Klingons will have to pvp "as they will not have access to robust player-vs.-environment content at launch." That's going to piss off some Klingon speaking carebears, and as weird as that sounds to say, you know there are a few out there.
And as much as I hate to say it, the carebears will be right. Look, I love the idea that Klingons are a warlike race that must advance by defeating others in combat. But limiting your players' options in the name of lore is the kind of thing that makes games suck. This basically means that there is no Klingon campaign. How do you say "Gosh darnit!" in Klingon?
