It changes vanilla Call of Pripyat into a more serious version that makes the game worth a new more intense and authentic playthrough. MISERY is all about dread, realism, high difficulty and expanded and variated arsenal.
INTRODUCTION
This mod production is a hybrid of various peoples mods in cooperation with TrueZoneProjects.
The mod consists of not just my own personal work but also many others (see credits).
MISERY is neither the best mod in the world nor is it a mod that every Stalker gamer will enjoy.
This is a heavy 'full package' conceptualized version of STALKER Call of Pripyat that
touches almost every game aspect including graphics, audio, interface, difficulty, weapons and more.
It resets vanilla Call of Pripyat with a more serious 'skin' that makes the game worth a new
more intense and authentic playthrough.
MISERY is all about dread, realism, high difficulty and expanded and variated arsenal.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
This mod requires a high end rig. There is no light version of this mod meaning that if you have a low end rig you will have to put all setting on lowest and make your way up step by step.
Antialiasing, sun light, godrays and shadows are very RAM consuming. Turn them off first.
The mod requires a legal version of Stalker Call of Pripyat patched to version 1.6.02
16:9 resolution (widescreen) monitor is recommended for optimal HUD display but is not required.
Performance with the developing machine: Windows XP, Intel Core i7 920 CPU
4x2.66GHz, 4 GB DDR RAM. nVidia GeForce GTX285 1 GB. DirectX 9.0c.
Performance: 45-65 FPS (fluid game).

LANGUAGE
This mod is in english text only. Russian speech ingame for authenticism.
CHARACTER SELECTION
There are 3 different playable USS characters to choose from: Sniper, Recon and Assaulter.
Each with their own unique attributes, specializations and starting gear.
See the "USS_Chart" for details.
The ingame dialogue varies depending on your choice of USS Character.
Please notice that it is not possible to change character during a playthrough.
If you want to change your USS specialization you must uninstall the mod,
reinstall MISERY with your new choice of character and start a new game.
INSTALL / UNINSTALL
Reinstall your version of CoP and make sure that everything about the installation is clean on your harddrive. Use the .exe installer and make your choice of USS specialization
by going through the "USS_Chart" image. Choose your FOV (Field of View).
83' is recommended for 16:9 monitor formats.
Below 83' is recommended for 4:3 monitor formats.
To uninstall MISERY simply use the 'unins001' auto-uninstaller.
BUGS & OTHER NOTICES
If you experienced any bugs in "I Work Alone" you will most likely face the same ones here
but some tweaking has been done to kill the few bugs that were present in "I Work Alone" version 1.2.
If you experience a CTD (Crash To Desktop) with a Crash log saying:
"Not enough storage is available to process this command".
Then you will need to either turn off background music or turn your graphical settings down
as this crash is caused by the mod using too much of your system memory (RAM).
Maybe you will even have to do both to avoid the problem.
Please note that loading times way have increased drastically with the installation of this mod.
EDITING/MERGING MOD DATA
MISERY is not directly compatible with any other mod.
Your adding of another mod might overwrite basic gamedata files...
- but I might have scripted the mod to use alternative files in many cases
- which leaves you with an unwanted result of merging or even constant crashes or bugs.
Merging, altering and/or editing of this mod data is at own risk and will not be commented
or supported on the mod profile by me.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Mods do not work with multiplayer.
There is no technical support provided with the release of this mod. But you are welcome to share your issues on the mod profile for the general community that often seems to solve issues.
It's the "Crash Logs" that tells us what seems to have caused a crash to desktop.
If you are using windows XP you will find your crash log here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat\logs
Only the last part of the text file after "FATAL ERROR" is relevant.
STEAM COMPABILITY
No direct acts have been made to make this mod compatible with the Steam version of the game.
However there are some experiences from "I Work Alone" that can be projected to this mod.
