“It’s the classic event that really, has been the backbone of our series for years. Even with all the different directions in which we’re taking racing in DiRT 2 we wanted to see how we could make the experience even more exciting, to exceed the expectations of that core rally audience again. So Rally is a key part of our World Tour and we’ve tweaked the event in the game by introducing staggered starts. It adds a new dimension so players can overtake on runs, putting in that extra element of competition. It brings rally even more alive, having the pressure piled on you from behind or hauling in your friends and rivals when you play multiplayer. Especially with such testing and tight tracks, pulling off a passing manoeuvre while setting the best time is a real thrill and the ultimate humiliation move. Croatia is another very different environment, where gamers won’t have seen Rally before. The hallmarks are its lethality, really, with concrete barriers, killer hairpins and tracks set right on the edge of cliffs – plenty of opportunities to show off our stunning damage model! Of course, you’re equipped with a co-driver with extensive pace notes, but you’ll still need balls of steel.”
